When it comes to refining your diet to support the healing of your acne, I like to talk about what it is you CAN eat as opposed to what you need to hide from. It’s dubbed (by me) as ‘The crowding out method’ and it involves eating all the goods first so that there is barely any room left for the bads.

Excess insulin can trigger androgen hormones, which are strongly correlated with acne. It can cause weight gain and eventually obesity and it also impacts the production of sebum, which is the oil that is produced by the skin’s sebaceous glands. Excess sebum can block pores, create inflammation and cause acne. If insulin levels are up and down, it is almost impossible to be acne-free.
