Celery Juice + Raj Barker. A match NOT made in heaven.

Celery Juice + Raj Barker. A match NOT made in heaven.

WHAT WAS CELERY JUICE DOING TO ME? I’m not sharing this story to freak anyone out but rather to circle back to one of my fundamental beliefs of nutritional medicine: What works for one person, does not work for every person. I do question if had I have persisted for the three months I set out to trial, would my skin and eye and body be a ray of gold light? Or is it that the juice just aint for me? I guess we’ll never know because as of this moment - my celery juice boots are hanging out to dry and I don’t even like them anyway. I want a new pair.

All Rose, Everything.

All Rose, Everything.

One of the most universal symbols of love is the rose + it just so happens this delicate flower hosts a range of healing properties especially specific to skin. In the spirit of love + all things valentine's day, I've listed 5 of the rose infused products I use on a regular basis to support skin cell rejuvenation + to replenish skin tissue.

Nothing Worth Having Comes Easy

Nothing Worth Having Comes Easy

Good things generally take time and the same theory applies to our health and wellbeing.  If you are suffering from adult acne or similar skin issues – there simply is no overnight acne treatment that can heal your skin woes, but with discipline, persistence and an open mind – the journey can be one that can teach you a lot not just about your skin but about yourself.

"Know Yourself" A Key Prescription for Healthier Skin

"Know Yourself" A Key Prescription for Healthier Skin

So lately I've been head down in Dr Grossbart's book 'Skin Deep' and resonating with so much of his wisdom. He talks about how our skin is the only organ that is not protected by the walls of the body and as our largest organ and more vulnerable part of our body it is often a direct display of our internal conflicts and emotions. He talks about healing our skin by knowing ourselves at the most deepest level.

5 Digestion Hacks for Acne

5 Digestion Hacks for Acne

When digestion is out of whack, it is almost impossible to treat acne. I used to eat a small meal and look 7 months pregnant, I still feel bloated after some meals but I am a lot more aware of triggers and how to quickly bring myself back to normal. Knowing how to support a healthy digestive system has been key to healing my skin. Below are five simple tips you can safely implement straight away in order to support your digestion and achieve skin radiance.

Eat Your Way to Clean Skin

Eat Your Way to Clean Skin

I’m all about abundance when it comes to food, tell me I can’t have something and I go crazy trying to avoid it. It never ends well!

When it comes to refining your diet to support the healing of your acne, I like to talk about what it is you CAN eat as opposed to what you need to hide from. It’s dubbed (by me) as ‘The crowding out method’ and it involves eating all the goods first so that there is barely any room left for the bads.

Stabilize Blood Sugar Levels

Stabilize Blood Sugar Levels

Excess insulin can trigger androgen hormones, which are strongly correlated with acne. It can cause weight gain and eventually obesity and it also impacts the production of sebum, which is the oil that is produced by the skin’s sebaceous glands. Excess sebum can block pores, create inflammation and cause acne. If insulin levels are up and down, it is almost impossible to be acne-free.
